FAQ: Process to remove STaR Chart Campuses
Removing campuses from STaR Chart system

The STaR Chart is about technology instruction and technology funding, therefore all active campuses that are listed in the TEA AskTED database were included as required campuses for STaR chart and e-Plan.

You can see your campus listings by accessing AskTED (http://askted.tea.state.tx.us/)

In order to request a campus removal from the STaR Chart requirement, the following conditions must exist:

Question 1: Does the campus receive any E-Rate funds or NCLB-Title II Part D funds (formula and/or discretionary)? If so, they need to complete the STaR Chart.

Question 2: Is the campus required to teach any of the Technology Applications TEKS (K-8) and/or Secondary Courses specific to Tech Apps -- or alternatives to Tech Apps (CATE, Tech Ed, etc.)? If so, they need to complete the STaR Chart.

Question 3: Do you provide teachers to this campus; if not what district (provide name and district id #) is responsible for staffing the campus?

Sometimes campuses have closed and just need to be removed from askTED at TEA.

Based on your answers, you may send a request to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it   requesting the campus be removed. Be sure to include the campus number and the reason for the request.

Freedom Calls Foundation Regional Participation
Craig Sharp (Network Administrator at Bay City ISD) spotlighted the Freedom Calls program at the Dec. 6, 2006 Regional Technology Meeting held in Bay City. As a result of the share and exchange, Sandra Holik with Louise ISD took the information and implemented the opportunities in her community.
Louise ISD was spotlighted by the Victoria Advocate on January 6, 2007 for promoting the program in their community.

Region III  participated in a Freedom Calls connection at the ESC during Christmas 2005 providing a local family time to visit with their soldier in Iraq.  Additional information for all districts on local implementation is provided below.

For more information on the program from Freedom Calls Foundation:

Information for NET3 Internet districts:
The Freedom Calls Foundation uses the public Internet to transport the
video conference thus requires a public IP for connectivity.

If your district is a NET3 Internet district:
You may use the NET3 Polycom bridge to connect which requires scheduling with Region III (Bob Buchholz or Gail Repka)
OR
You may use one of your available public IP numbers and have it mapped to your codec. This option gives you the greatest flexibility with scheduling locally. No coordination with the NET3 bridge is required, other than local sight availability once your IP is mapped.

Coordinate initial NET3 IP mappings with
Bob Buchholz
