These modules were designed for use by network members at the 20 education service centers in Texas who are part of the Statewide Leadership Function: Low Incidence Disabilities in Special Education. The purpose of these modules is to meet the training needs of teachers of students with low incidence disabilities in life skills classrooms in Texas.
The modules can be used together as part of training delivered across several days or as ten separate modules delivered over a more extended period of time. The content of each module reflects current research-based understandings of literacy as it relates to students of all ages (3-21) with low incidence disabilities and the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills.
These training materials were developed by the Center for Literacy and Disability Studies at the University of N. Carolina at Chapel Hill for the Texas Education Agency.
