Academia Nova Scholastica--The New Teacher Academy

The New Teacher Academy (Academia Nova Scholastica) will use Robert Marzano's The Art and Science of Teaching: A Comprehensive Framework for Effective Instruction to guide beginning teachers (3 years or less experience) through a yearlong study of researched-based best practices. Academia Nova Scholastica (ANS) will show teachers how to examine and develop their knowledge and skills through a minimum of 10 contacts between August and May with ESC specialists at Region 3, through Net 3, and district on-site visits. The focus of the academy will be on instruction and support in the following areas:

• Curriculum planning and management
• Classroom management (discipline, pacing, organization, scheduling, routines, expectations)
• Student motivation and engagement
• Effective researched-based instructional strategies

(Provided services include copies of book for teachers and principal, on-site visits, professional development and other resources).
