School Finance Services

  • The collection and use of financial data is of vital importance in the success of school districts. Data for improvement of administrative decision-making is a requirement for school administrators and business office personnel as they evaluate their financial status and plan changes in operations. This service provides the assistance in the analysis and evaluation of districts financial data. This data will assist district personnel in determining the best alternatives in the use of funding in critical financial decision-making.

    The basic support services enhance the business and financial activities and operations of school districts and charter schools. Services fall into three main categorical areas: information services, school financial advisory services, and business training services. These services assist local school operations in becoming more efficient in accordance with the mandated principles and more effective in the use of financial resources.

    Region 3 will provide superintendents and school business officials with telephone and e-mail technical assistance and support in the following areas:

    • Information and communication on school finance and funding issues
    • Planning and Budgeting
    • Monthly Calendar of TEA, Finance, HR, Payroll, Administration/Leadership, School Board, PEIMS, Accountability/Assessment, Federal and State Programs, Transportation, Child Nutrition/School Health, PEIMS, and E-Rate due dates and deadlines
    • Financial Coding
    • SOF template assistance
    • State funding formulas - reading and interpreting summary of finance
    • Internet Resources
    • Public Funds Investment Act - Investment Officer Training
    • Texas Education Agency forms and submissions associated with state funding (Attendance Projections, Indirect Cost Rate, Maintenance of Effort, Tax Information Survey, Financial Audit, Transportation)
    • Summary of Finance Workdays
    • School Business Officials’ Academy every other year
    • FIRST ratings assistance
    • Chapter 49 information and submission assistance
    • One on One School Business Official Orientation for new staff
    • Special Program Allotment assistance

    Many school finance professional development workshops are available free of charge with this contracted services option. Unlimited number of staff may attend these trainings.

Option 2: School Finance Mentorship

  • Understanding the complexity of school funding and developing the skills to successfully understand school business is of vital importance to new superintendents and school business officials. This service provides the in-depth guidance, assistance, and one-on-one training in school finance. In addition to basic services, the following services are included with this option:

  • $95 hourly rate

    $800 daily rate
