Coaching the Coach: Instructional Coaches Academy

  • Instructional Coaches professional responsibility is to bring evidence-based practices into classrooms by collaborating with teachers to get a clear picture of current reality/analyzing, identifying goals, assisting with teaching strategies to meet the goals, monitoring progress, and problem solving until the goals are met.

    Instructional coaches can help teachers focus on their individual needs in the classroom, find resources to help bring growth in teaching and learning, and they can help teachers get to a place where they are sharing best practices with one another.

    Setting expectations for how the Instructional Coach partnership works is vital for the support system to be successful.

    R3 Instructional Coaching Academy will meet these needs by providing ….

    A series of face-to-face modules, implementation support, coaching opportunities and collaboration meetings will prepare and/or expand instructional coaches’ knowledge of content-based best practices and to build their capacity to coach teachers and improve student learning.

    • 6 Days face to face PD
    • 3 visits implementation support and coaching
    • Unlimited implementation support and technical assistance via email or telephone

    Instructional Coaches will explore coaching elements of:

    • Interpersonal/Coaching Skills including Action Coaching
    • Data-Driven Instruction
    • Leadership and Facilitation Skills

    September-October

    • 2 Days face to face professional development
    • 1 coaching visit

    November-December

    • 2 Days face to face professional development
    • 1 coaching visit

    January-February

    • 2 Days face to face professional development
    • 1 coaching visit
