Texas Instructional Leadership (TIL) Packages

  • What is the TIL Approach?
    Region 3’s Texas Instructional Leadership cohorts provide training and support to campus and district leaders to improve their ability to build the capacity of the educators that they manage. Each cohort consists of a suite of trainings intended to foster continuous improvement as campus and district administrators grow concrete instructional leadership skills in the areas of observation and feedback, student culture, and data driven instruction. As members of the cohort, districts will receive continuous, year-long support:

    • FACE-TO-FACE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
      • Members of the cohort will learn instructional leadership best practices and have an opportunity to practice their new skills together in a low stakes, face-to-face, environment.
    • IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT
      • Following face to face professional development, R3 trainers will observe participants - either virtually or in person- as the new skill sets are implemented while also roviding additional tailored support to ensure that participants apply skills successfully.
    • ONE-ON-ONE COACHING
      • R3 trainers will provide one-on-one support to shape district practices and policies to make the TIL approach more sustainable for Participating campuses and districts.

    Formative Assessment & Lesson Plans

    The Formative Assessment & Lesson Plans cohort focuses on building capacity in campuses and districts that will empower participants to effectively unpack standards in order to create rigorous, measurable, distinct, manageable, and data-driven daily lesson objectives. Followed by he development of aligned formative assessment, exemplars and aggressive monitoring plans.

    Data Driven Instruction

    Data-Driven Instruction (DDI) is a highly ffective, research-based training that guides teachers and administrators to spend less time teaching their students what they already know and more time on what  their students need. Based on the protocol developed by Paul Bambrick-Santoyo and described in his books Driven by Data 2.0 and Leverage Leadership 2.0, TIL DDI advocates for a deeper analysis of student work.

    Student Culture & Routines

    Culture is not formed by motivational speeches or statements of values - it is formed by the repeated practice of good habits. Based on the work of Paul Bambrick- Santoyo in Leverage Leadership 2.0, this  cohort trains leaders to develop their cultural vision and the systems to bring that vision to reality, monitor it throughout the year, and how to intervene when necessary to ensure it stays strong.

    Action Coaching

    Participation in the Action Coaching cohort will provide campus and district leaders opportunities to develop proficiency in establishing and coaching toward effective instructional practices in every classroom. Through this cohort, administrators will learn how to grow educators by allowing them to see a model of success, name the bitesize steps that lead to growth, and practice those steps to sharpen skills.
