Disproportionate Representation in Special Education
-
Disproportionate Representation in Special Education, located at Region One Education Service Center, is a resource for local education agencies for addressing the issues related to disproportionate representation in special education. The role of the ESC is to review research and information and maintain a web page of resources such as self-assessment tools, links to current research and best practices, strategies, and trainings related to the needs of struggling students that Local Education Agencies may use to identify policies, procedures, and practices that lead to disproportionate representation and for improvement planning. The goal of the project is proportionate representation of students from racial and ethnic groups in special education, disability categories, and rates of expulsion and suspension.
