Meet Morris Lyon, Executive Director of Region 3 ESC

The Board of Directors of the Region 3 Education Service Center selected Morris Lyon as the new Executive Director, effective July 15, 2021.

“The Board of Directors and staff are excited about bringing Mr. Lyon onboard,” said Reggie Brisco, Chair of the Region 3 Board of Directors. “We look forward to working with him to continue to improve the strides in education and school district services that have been implemented under the direction of Mrs. Baker.”

A teacher, coach, principal, and superintendent in Texas schools for two decades, Lyon brings a wealth of understanding of education including in rural areas. He served as a member and leader in statewide organizations, including former President of the Texas Rural Education Association, and served on the Executive Committee of Texas Association of School Administrators. A lifelong learner, he believes it is critical to stay abreast of trends in education.

Lyon is a graduate of Texas A&M-Commerce (BS, MS, and MEd) and is currently pursuing his EdD in School Improvement from UT-Tyler.

“I am honored for the opportunity to join the ESC 3 team,” Lyon said. “I look forward to working closely with the ESC 3 Board of Directors and ESC Staff to serve the school districts of Region 3.”

Region 3 Education Service Center serves 39 school districts in 11 counties. ESC 3 is one of 20 Education Service Centers across Texas established to provide services to school districts throughout the state. Service centers assist school districts in improving student performance, enable school districts to operate more efficiently and economically, and implement initiatives assigned by the legislature or the commissioner.
